Valentina Gaevaya, born 1936, higher education. In 1965 she graduated from Leningrad Higher Trade Union School of the All-Union Central Council of Trade Unions, Department of Choreography.
Since January 1974, she has been the artistic director and chief choreographer of the choreographic ensemble «Khoroshki».
Valentina Gaevaya deeply and thoroughly examines the Belarusian cultural heritage, reinterprets it in a peculiar and talented way and brings it back to life. Over more than 40 years of work with the team, Gayevaya has created more than a dozen of author programs. The original productions of the Belarusian folk dances, she unites in the theatrical choreographic performances.
Valentina Gaevaya's choreographic programs invariably receive high praise from critics, they are increasingly called folklore ballets, and the Belarusian State Academic Honored Choreographic Ensemble «Khoroshki» - the dance theater of Valentina Gayeva.
For her contribution to the development of Belarusian culture, Valentina Gayevaya has awards: honorary degree “Honored Artist of the Belorussian SSR”, title «People's Artist of the Belorussian SSR», the State Prize of the Republic of Belarus, the Francis Skaryna Medal, the Special Prize of the President of the Republic of Belarus «For Spiritual Revival», the Francisc Skaryna Order, and numerous diplomas and certificates.
